The amazing works of radical architectural-design duo Minimaforms will be showing this February and March in London; be sure to check out the smoke plumes engraved with laser messages and Warp Records musician, Mira Calix, using artificial intelligence to create music on the opening night.
Two brothers- Stephen and Theodore Spyropoulos- make up the experimental architecture practice Minimaforms. Holding numerous achievements between them (Theodore has worked as project manager in the offices of Peter Eisenman and Zaha Hadid Architects, and Stephen is a design director with projects for Samsung, XL Records and the Matador Records), Minimaforms was created in 2002. TYhis exhibition shows some of the amazing things they've accomplished since then.
Launched by the Architectural Association School, Enabling: The Work of Minimiforms includes re-visits of some spectacular public works like Memory Cloud, which sawTrafalgar Square filled withj messages from the public projected in mists and layer of smoke in the air. Plus realised architectural pieces such as the Brunel University archway that features 'operable lenses', as well as their extreme theoretical work (high-rise towers and 'Living Pods' that create a 'living', evoliving cityscape, or the database project of a London 'Identity Machine').
The opening night features a special performance with performer/musician/DJ Mira Calix; a light and music spectacular, Machina Speculatrix (A Machine that Watches) features music from artificially intelligent machines will be played on the Architectural Association's terrace.
