jotta magazine is the voice of this creative community. The thing is, with over 1500 members and rising, we have many voices, expressed through many mediums and across many disciplines. So we'd love you to get involved. Review exhibitions, openings, festivals and fairs happening in your neck of the woods, blog about your own experiences as a student/artist/media magnate in the making. There are loads of exciting happenings to look forward to over the coming months, which will be featured in daily updates in the magazine. Kicking off with London Fashion Week and London Design Week, then continuing into October with Raindance, music and art festival Concrete and Glass plus all the London Art fairs, Frieze, Scope , Zoo and other such art-animal enclaves. We'll be going on weekly visits to artists studios around London, sussing out who's got our dream creative jobs and how they got them, as well as interviewing artists from within the jotta community, finding out who's doing what and how well they are. To get involved email me with your area of interest, some examples of your writing and how much time you'd have to devote to jotta stuff at email@example.com

It might seem cheeky for a site so fresh as us, but we'd like to give ourselves a little pat on the back for coming in with an award for the Commercial Deal of the Year at the inaugural London Knowledge Transfer Awards. jotta was the only arts organisation to feature as a finalist in any of the six categories and the founders and our partners at Central St Martins were commended for "creating a growing business with a future within the new digital business world that harnesses the talents of the creative sector while supporting the industry's emerging and established talent." Nice one.
There's an exciting new opportunity on Marketplace to design the logo for a new virtual arts festival organised by the European Institutes of Arts- ELIA. The NEW NOW festival will take place in Europes Cultural Capital 2009- Vilnius and will be a showcase of excellence across the arts.
See the final work from 2009 RCA Fine Arts, Photography, Applied Arts and Metalwork- amazing stuff!
Last weekend the team for the live animation arena at the Friday Late at V&A on June 26th gathered for our first rehearsal. Louis from MPC, Carrie from Design Lab, Sam Steer, from himself, and Millie from jotta- the team, and little idea of how things were going to look. We had a concept, the loose set up- a miniataure theatre, an animation desk and a projection screen. But what to put in them? Sam got to work crafting a stage out of foam- a tradition square construct with frame and hanging beams. Meanwhile Louis and Carrie cut out the first figures for animation from some jotta submissions. And hey presto, within a few hours we had the beginnings of something beautiful!
The last rehearsal before the big day this Friday- Jotta animates the V and A. See how the team is getting on...
Here are the photos from jotta?s two arenas at Pen-Paper-Scissors. The event last Friday was a celebration of the Victoria and Albert Museum's Illustration Awards 2009. At it we showed an animated feature that was captured and animated by jotta collaborators Moving Picture Company and was inspired by the Monsters of the V&A. Also, jotta put together a cut and paste workshop. A fun-filled illustrative journey from the newsroom to the chip shop, people were able to populate their own broadsheets, make life-size cut outs, and have their pic taken. All-in-all the event was a great time. Thanks for coming out!

Nova Dando, designer, music video stylist, and winner of The Hospital's Creative in Residence for Fashion Design showed The Rainbow collection amidst a club-like atmosphere in the depths of the exclusive members club's bowels. With a buzzing crowd of young London fashion, music and media bright young things, Nova sent a troupe of dancers, The House Of Dangerkat onto the stage wearing long tassled pom pom ensconced sleeves and colourfully layered crop-tops, the boyant collective fittingly displayed the vibrancy and movement of Nova?s wild garments.

University Of Brighton Rhiannon_EllisMy intention for this image was to convey the theme ?Leading the way?. I collaged a gathering of people on the ground and two figures leaping to the sky ahead of the crowd. Some people are content with where they are, but others need to be a step ahead to show what is achievable. Theme: Leading the way Medium: Photoshop collage
