Sparkle The Dark Up: Design Museum- Design Over Time Ticket Give Aways!
By Millie Ross –  30.11.2011

This Friday December 2nd the Design Museum are having a Christmas party, and they’ve invited jotta to make the members bar fun! We have 2 pairs of tickets to give away, so you can come drink all the free beer you like and try a hand collaborating on our interactive Christmas tree!

OK, so Kate Bush might not serenade us from Santa's chair (thanks to the hilarious BushyGifs) BUT almost as wacky will be our attempts to draw a Christmas tree after guzzling free beer in the members bar!

Central Saint Martins Communication Design graduate, Paul Ferragut, a member of long time jotta collaborators Midnight Collective, will be bringing his 'Hand-Gesture Drawing Machine' to the Design Musuem's late event Design Overtime.

4 lucky jotta comp winners will get access to the event, which takes over the whole of the Design Museum with a raft of festive fun (see below), PLUS access to the members bar where we will have our interactive Christmas installation. Here's a taster of Ferragut's machine. Basically he uses motion sensor technology and a mechanical pen to track the gestures of the user creating a long distance drawing machine. Génial!

To win a pair of tickets all you have to do is tell us the name of the song Kate Bush is singing in the above animated gif. Tweet it to @jottadotcom OR go to our Facebook page and tell us in a comment!

What's the connection to Kate Bush you ask? The name of the event, Sparkle The Dark Up, is a lyric from the Kate Bush song. So there!

Friday 2 December, 6 – 10pm
Warm up your winter with the glowing Design Overtime. A mix of hands-on workshops and making in the decoration station; exotic gift wrap guidance and a first look at the World's tallest cardboard Christmas tree by Giles Miller. Activities to encounter:

Hunt the flake - Snow has set adrift throughout the museum. Find 10 snowflakes and collect your prize from Santa’s sack.

Cracker production line - make your own crackers! Slightly more sophisticated than toilet roll innards, all glitzy materials provided.

Photo e-booth - More like a photography studio, with props and backdrops provided, shoot an e-card friendly environment ready for emailing to all your friends.

This is Design bauble factory - Make a bauble inspired by anything in current exhibition This is Design, from Space Invaders icons, the telephone box or Valentine typewriter,

Take home your own wall mounted head - Let the Zombie Collective show you how to create a mounted animal head. Take it home to display with pride. But remember, trophy animals are not just for Christmas.

Bic pen Christmas card illustrating - Sketch and decorate festive pop-up cards using the ubiquitous design classic. Illustrator Thomas Fournier we be at hand to guide you through technique and inspire.

Draw a festive illustration and see it projected onto the outside of the museum. House of Illustration have set the brief, take part by uploading your photos to flickr.
