The Other Art Fair, kicking off Thursday May 10, will see the Fabelist Marketplace- a pop up ‘market place’ where visitors will be able to buy art directly from the makers whilst you view, interact and learn from a series of performances, talks and master-classes.
Fabelist’s involvement in The Other Art Fair began last week at the launch party of the fair, at the Box Park in Shoreditch, where Fabelist showcased their interdisciplinary, collaborative ethos with a pick and mix of art, literature and music. Jotta member and artist Zoe Catherine Kendall and Jonathan Bright performed spoken word accompanied by the mellow tones of jazz musicians from the band ‘Stories’.
The Edible Art Movement will be testing their philosophy of ‘We are what we eat’ with an art influenced gastronomical offering of smells and sensations to distort, dismay, delight and dazzle.
Zoe Catherine Kendall will be putting on an eclectic array of performance and tarot card reading, inspired by her paintings and Polly Bagnall will be recording readings of a different kind with her ‘Artemeter’- a creative barometer that will visually represent the subtle nuances in sound and atmosphere at the fair.
Meanwhile, there’s plenty to satisfy inquisitive minds with master classes from Fabelist artists Rachelle Allen-Sherwood, Carlos Martyn Burgos and Silvia Krupinska who, will be sharing their expertise in everything from art 'vandalism' to the 'grape extraction' sculpting technique. Plus there’s some very special opportunities to converse with artists apart from the bustle of the buying and networking of the fair in our ‘Meet the Artist’ sessions.
To learn some more about Fabelist and what they're planning for the fair take a look at founder Francesca Goodwin's interview with the Other Art Fair Director here.
