About the opportunity: Animaux Circus are looking for a selection of 10 artists to submit original work for an exhibition in Brixton, London. If you are local to south London and a designer/Illustrator/Sculptor/Maker who would like to show your work in a fantastic location right in the heart of Brixton then we would like to hear from you!
Brief: The theme of the exhibition is loosely based on 'Behind the scenes of the Circus', focusing not on the typical imagery that is brought to mind when thinking of the circus, but the images that are often forgotten about.
If selected, we will be asking you to produce work to draw attention to the things that are often unseen by the audience. Focusing on the less glamourous side to the job and the physical and emotional aspect on its performers. For example, the relationship between the performers and their animals; lion tamers missing fingers or elephants arguing about who has to wear the tutu and so on. The idea is to have fun with the brief and not to take it too seriously. We enjoy art which has a comical aspect to it and we want you to have fun with your ideas and would love to hear them.
About the exhibition: All chosen works will be presented in an exhibition spread across 3 nights alongside workshops, live painting, film screening and much more at the Brick Box venue on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton. The exhibition will run from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd September.
How to submit: If you are interested, please send examples of your work (no more than five images) or a link to your website to email@example.com
Deadline: Wednesday 29th August at 5pm.
Artists chosen will then be sent a full brief to get creative with.
