In The Woods Festival: call for installations

In the woods is set in Kent woodland in September and are looking for proposals to make, install and create work that will glimmer in its surroundings. Subtle interventions that will enhance the spirit of the festival as well draw the public away from the stages and into a new world.

Back to Opportunities

About the opportunity: In The Woods Festival seeks to promote and providing a platform for new music and art. Having been awarded Arts Council funding this year we are looking to commission, provide materials, fund and create new work as well as providing logistical support for existing pieces.

In the woods is set in beautiful Kent woodland on the first weekend of September and has grown organically at steady pace, we are looking for proposals to make, install and create work that will glimmer in its surroundings. Subtle interventions that will enhance the spirit of the festival as well draw the public away from the stages and into a new world.

The brief: We are looking for the practical as well as the sensational: intelligent design that serves as both something of beauty as well as lighting or furniture for example. Sculptural, innovative structures that could be installed in the trees to provide shelter or seating. Structures, which could be decorated in collaboration with artists or people attending the festival, interactive pieces that both engage, entice and give people an experience unlike anything seen at other festivals.

We are keen for work to be site specific/sympathetic, for permanent pieces as well as happenings that could encompass anything from performance art to flash mobs.

We would like to emphasise the importance of recycled materials where possible when creating new work as well as removing pieces from the woods afterwards.

How to apply: If you’d like to propose an idea, performance based, practical, installation and beyond please email arts@inthewoodsfestival.co.uk

Deadlines:
The deadline for proposals that require funding is 24th June
The deadline for submissions of existing work for the rehearsal at Corsica Studios is 15th July
The deadline for submissions of existing work for the festival is 12th August
