A project to revive and improve Willesden High Road running from October 2011 to March 2012, starting with an open call for designers to submit ideas to bring the shop windows to life.
About the opportunity: New Windows on Willesden Green is an Outer London Fund project, which is being delivered for Brent Council and Design for London by The Architecture Foundation in collaboration with Meanwhile Space and Blue Consulting. This project is an exciting opportunity to revive and improve Willesden High Road bringing positive change to the area. The project runs from October 2011 to March 2012 and will be delivered in two phases.
Phase 1: From October to December a curated series of window animations will be installed along the High Road marking the 25 days leading up to Christmas. Local shop-owners will be paired with emerging designers to produce an advent calendar of window displays. In addition, a series of public events will be held on 16-18 December and there will be a dedicated flagship shop on the High Road communicating future opportunities relating to the project.
Phase 2: From January to March we will be looking to place new tenants in vacant properties along the High Road, providing start-up companies and projects with the opportunity to take up residencies at reduced rents. There will be a number of ways of engaging with the project which will be publicised via The Architecture Foundation and the New Windows on Willesden Green website.
We currently have an open call for designers who wish to engage with the project.
